Tysons Corner, VA., May 19, 2011 – MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced that Global Blue has selected MicroStrategy’s Business Intelligence PlatformTM to provide detailed insights into consumer purchasing trends.
Global Blue specializes in providing tax free shopping for international travellers at 270,000 participating locations in 37 countries.
More than 300 Global Blue marketing and sales staff from around the world will utilize MicroStrategy for advanced reporting and analysis capabilities. Working with MicroStrategy, Global Blue will be able to access a centralized, interactive reporting platform that enables employees to view product sales and consumer purchasing trends at-a-glance, and easily distill data into aggregated reports that can be shared with merchants to help them understand sales performance.
Global Blue’s Vice President for Sales Operations, Mr. Thomas Bundschuh commented on the benefits of the new system, “MicroStrategy empowers our management team to quickly create and view sales dashboards based on the latest, most up-to-date information, consolidated across countries or sales regions. For the first time, we are also able to obtain sales insights on a real-time basis that can be used to trigger specific business processes. For example, we may kick off pre-planned sales initiatives earlier if certain sales benchmarks are not met within the stipulated period of time, or we can choose to modify our sales campaigns. In the past, our view of the business was limited to a set of fixed, end-of-month reports that may contain outdated information.”
Global Blue’s Vice President for Service Management Sales and Business Intelligence, Ms. Leei Hong Chen concurs, “Previously, Global Blue’s employees operated in geographical silos, with each country team having its own method of collating and generating reports. The lack of consistent reporting made it very difficult for its senior management to compare results across regions fairly and accurately. With MicroStrategy, the company is now able to generate up to 250,000 reports annually on sales receipts and comparative campaign data. Data is housed in the cloud, which affords the company not only greater security over its data, but also the performance capabilities needed to process data rapidly to plan for future initiatives.”
With MicroStrategy, Global Blue can generate a customized country report in less than one minute. The ability to create highly customized reports allows Global Blue to understand the demographics of travellers that visit merchants during high shopping seasons or tourism peaks. With this knowledge, Global Blue can work with retailers to enhance customer service and provide more customized services during these high sales periods.
